Customizing an Impact Assessment Method LIVE
Choosing an appropriate impact assessment method for your company that looks at those impacts which are most important/influential to your analysis/decisions is difficult. You need to understand how impact assessment methods are built, what they are measuring and how.
You also need to understand the value choices that are inherent in all impact assessment methods and then match these to the values of your company and stakeholders.This course is designed to give students hands-on experience building a custom impact assessment method in SimaPro.
This in-depth course teaches how impact assessments are built and with that knowledge, details how to make your own impact assessment method in SimaPro. The class will explore shortcuts for combining categories from various impact assessment methods and applying characterization factors already in Excel. Your instructor will be an experienced LCA/SimaPro professional.

• Determining what is missing or in excess
• Modify the values in an existing method
• Adding a substance to a method
• Using CSV shortcut to create a custom method
• Analyzing impacts categories such as electricity use and solid waste that cannot be done strictly with SimaPro methods

The class will meet on Zoom. You will be provided with an invitation and password a few days before the class.
The best set up for taking the class is to have one computer/monitor to view the slides and one computer/monitor set up with SimaPro to follow along and gain hands on experience. If you would like to take the class but do not have access to the software, we will provide you with a temporary license.
Before the class, you will receive a PDF of the presentation slides, which you can use for note-taking during the class. These prove to be a great help when conducting your future LCAs.
